i remember a priest (roman catholic) sharing how he battled pride, anger and judging people. i know, a priest! you'd think they wouldn't have that kind of struggle. he was a retired navy judge of all things, whose wife had passed away; and he'd become a priest. i always felt that because he worked so hard (for so many years) at 'doing all the right things,' he felt a little (if not a lot) better than other people. which is the one type of person it is not easy for me to 'be kind to.' i don't know why, but being kind comes fairly easy to me -for most people ;-) -i think it's because i've been blessed to see how weak and shallow i can be.

my wife and i were in napa today, at a training for a new business venture. the speaker, a nutrionist and very accomplished person, asked us to do an exercise in what our dreams are in different areas of our lives.... my number one is to have a non-profit helping families, that includes the religious/spiritual dimension of their lives. which brings me to the number one thing i battle: fear. i feel like the guy in the parable who hides his talent (literally and figuratively) because of fear....

for a guy who likes to think he doesn't care what other people think of him, i care a lot about how other people think of me. i hold back for many reasons, but.... i forget i'm not God. God is God. michael, remember what ed taught you, let God be God. be willing to play your role, whatever it may be. stop letting your fear and busy brain to stop you from being the best michael God wants you to be. be kind and don't judge. my friend rosemary shares this wisdom that's been passed on to her: 'don't judge your insides with other peoples outsides' ;-) hmmmm :-)

keep it simple michael. love. be in service. earn an honest living. share. be happy. live life to the full walking w/ Christ.
