God is....
God is an eternal exchange of love (Catechism of the Catholic Church, no. 221). Jesus has called each of us to live in that love (cf. 1 John 3). -quoted in the book boys to MEN - The Transforming Power of Virtue, by Tim Gray and Curtis Martin; p. 107
i love the idea of God giving and receiving love, exchanging love with himself, from all eternity, for all eternity.... and if we are made in the the image and likeness of this God, it is not surprising that deep inside of us we have a need in our souls to give and receive love.
gil bailie (see http://cornerstone-forum.org/ and http://www.gil-bailie.com/) introduced me to this idea. he says that we gave the name "trinity" to God (3 persons in one God) which is perhaps the least important aspect (the numerical) to describe him.
i've been paying attention to this in my life. do i recognize a need within myself to give and receive love? drumroll please.... ;-) Yes.
here's a challenge i've noticed.... i pray my 4 children and you who might be reading this, and me who is writing this ;-) ....might be willing to RECEIVE, as well as give, love....
